What Did Bryce Mitchell Say Today : UFC president Dana White has strongly condemned mixed martial artist Bryce Mitchell’s recent comments about Adolf Hitler, calling them “beyond disgusting.” Mitchell, during an appearance on his podcast, controversially described the Nazi dictator as a “good guy” and falsely claimed that the Holocaust was “not real.”
The 30-year-old American, currently ranked 13th in the UFC’s featherweight division, made several disturbing remarks, not only about Hitler but also on topics related to antisemitism, homophobia, and transphobia. His comments have sparked a wave of backlash, with many calling his statements harmful and ignorant.
White responded swiftly to the controversy, stating, “We reached out to Bryce immediately when we learned about what he said and made it clear how strongly we felt about it. His words were absolutely beyond disgusting. He needs to receive a real education on the facts surrounding Hitler and World War II.”
Despite White’s strong condemnation, Mitchell has not faced any formal repercussions from the UFC for his offensive remarks. White went on to say, “Hitler is one of the most vile and evil figures in history, and anyone who even attempts to defend him is simply ignorant. This is the danger of the internet and social media – it gives a platform to people who are uninformed and harmful.”
Hitler, who led the Nazi party, was responsible for the deaths of millions during World War II, including the genocide of six million Jews during the Holocaust. For many, this kind of denial or revisionism is deeply hurtful and dangerous.
A New Low for MMA?
The fallout from Mitchell’s comments has resonated across the MMA community, with Canadian-American sports journalist Ariel Helwani, who is Jewish, expressing his frustration on social media. Helwani stated, “Each and every day, MMA seems to find a new way to embarrass itself and its fans. This is a new low.”
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) also issued a statement condemning Mitchell’s podcast remarks. ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt expressed his shock, saying, “I’m appalled by this interview. It’s difficult to find the words. Mitchell manages to spout antisemitic, homophobic, and transphobic views in a matter of minutes. This kind of rhetoric has no place in society, let alone in the world of sports.”
Mitchell has been a member of the UFC since 2018, but with his controversial remarks, his standing in the sport is now under intense scrutiny.
