Ex-AEW Champion Makes In-Ring Return As WWE Speculation Continues: Former AEW star Miro has officially stepped back into the ring, fueling ongoing speculation about a possible return to WWE.
The powerhouse wrestler, who wrapped up his five-year tenure with AEW in February 2025, had been off television for more than a year. During his AEW run, he held the TNT Championship for an impressive 140 days, cementing his place as a dominant force in the company.
A Long-Awaited Return
Miro’s absence from AEW programming had led to months of uncertainty, especially after his final match in December 2023, where he defeated Andrade El Idolo at AEW Worlds End. Interestingly, that match also turned out to be Andrade’s farewell from AEW, as he returned to WWE just a month later as a surprise entrant in the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Now, Miro has finally made his return to the squared circle, competing at QPW Super Slam III in Doha, Qatar, on February 22, 2025. He faced off against an old ally, Alberto El Patron, with whom he once shared a faction in WWE’s short-lived League of Nations.

What’s Next for Miro?
The timing of his return has only intensified speculation that he could be on his way back to WWE. Miro previously spent a decade with the company, first signing a developmental contract in 2010 before making a splash on the main roster. During his six-year tenure, he became a three-time WWE United States Champion, with his reigns often highlighted by his impressive physicality and charismatic presence.
At 39 years old, Miro is still in peak condition and has plenty left to offer. With WWE constantly looking for seasoned stars who can deliver both in the ring and on the mic, a return could make perfect sense. The company has welcomed back several former talents in recent years, and with the new Triple H-led creative direction, a fresh chapter for Miro in WWE isn’t out of the question.
AEW Moves Forward
While Miro’s future remains uncertain, AEW is continuing to build its roster. One name locked in for the foreseeable future is ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, who has officially signed with the company. Unlike Miro, Bailey is embracing his AEW journey and looks set to be a key player in the promotion moving forward.
With Miro back in action and WWE rumors swirling, it feels like only a matter of time before we see where his next chapter unfolds.
